Arulmigu Kapaleeshwarar Temple
Vinayaka Nagar Colony, Mylapore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu
About this place
A classic Dravidian-style Shiva temple in the heart of Mylapore, the Kapaleeshwarar temple was originally built by the Pallavas in the 7th century and rebuilt by the Vijayanagara kings in the 16th century after its destruction by the Portuguese. The 37-metre eastern gopuram covered in colourful sculptures dominates the surrounding bazaar streets. A working temple — non-Hindus may visit the outer courtyards.

No. Entry to the temple is free. Special darshan queues during festivals may have a nominal donation.
